IMCN 2040
The Izmir Metabolic Cycling Network is a urban scale assessment developed by FABRICations (Amsterdam, NL) in collaboration with WRI Turkey Sustainable Cities to evaluate the potential of cycling as a primary driver for sustainable urban development in Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey. While the city already has various ongoing initiatives in planning and promotion of cycling infrastructure, this assesement evaluates the potential to introducing a broader multimodal cycling network based on the framework of Urban Metabolism. The project aims to empower existing infrastructures in the city with new features, and to integrate cycling with commuting, leisure, waste, and logistics flows in the urban system.
